It is made from solid lab-grade borosilicate glass and is approx. 6" in length (not including the hook). The ashes are infused by hand into the white background during its liquid phase of the glassblowing process, and the 5 rainbow colors are carefully layered on top. All memorial globes, sculptures, ornaments and pendants are lovingly handcrafted in the USA by Jason Thiemann, a second-generation artistic glassblower with 30 years' experience. By taking a small amount of cremation ashes and permanently fusing them within glass of the highest lab-grade quality, Starry Night Glass Art creates a lasting tribute which celebrates the life and love of your family member or pet. We are the alternative to the wooden box or urn. Our glass memorials can be crafted from the ashes of people and any pets. Jason creates each piece individually so no two pieces will ever be the same. Having a tangible reminder of your loved one or companion provides much comfort and closure. Because only a small amount of ashes is required for each piece, the memorial globe is a wonderful option for families. ***Only 2-3 Tablespoons of ashes are required per order. If you are not cremating, we can also create the memorials using a small amount of hair/fur as these will turn into ash during the glassblowing process. Details for gathering and shipping the ashes/hair/fur will be emailed to you within 24 hours of receiving your order. Any leftover ashes will be shipped back to you with the finished memorial.***

All ashes are different; some are very light and powdery, some are very dark and clumpy. This is a result of the diet, medical issues, metal in the body (pins) and/or the cremation process. We double-sift all ashes upon receiving them, but sometimes the sifted ashes clump together in the process of infusing them in the glass under high temperature. We cannot foresee or correct this if it happens. We embrace the ashes for what they are and what they want to do - just like your loved one/pet, each one has its own unique personality...
